There used to be three natural lakes around the Col de Resia: Lake Resia, Lake Curon and Lake San Valentino alla Muta. However, the construction of a large dam in 1950 merged the first two lakes, engulfing the ancient town of Curon Venosta underwater. Today, only the upper part of Curon's bell tower emerges enigmatically from the lake, bearing witness to its ancient history.
You can access the bell tower during the cold season, when the lake freezes over, creating a mystical atmosphere. Legend even has it that the bells used to ring on winter days.
For an unforgettable experience, we recommend approaching the pass from the north side, starting from Martina and following the picturesque road with its eleven hairpin bends. The road will take you directly to Lake Resia, where you can capture unforgettable photos against the backdrop of the church tower.
