Discover the magic of the Col di Resia, one of the most beautiful itineraries in South Tyrol and Switzerland, close to the famous Stelvio Pass. The pass is renowned for its artificial lake and is home to Italy's most photographed bell tower, making for an unforgettable experience.

The appeal of this route lies in its simplicity, making it accessible even to novice bikers thanks to an easy route. Despite its growing popularity, it remains an essential stop-off point for all travellers in the region.

There used to be three natural lakes around the Col de Resia: Lake Resia, Lake Curon and Lake San Valentino alla Muta. However, the construction of a large dam in 1950 merged the first two lakes, engulfing the ancient town of Curon Venosta underwater. Today, only the upper part of Curon's bell tower emerges enigmatically from the lake, bearing witness to its ancient history.

You can access the bell tower during the cold season, when the lake freezes over, creating a mystical atmosphere. Legend even has it that the bells used to ring on winter days.

For an unforgettable experience, we recommend approaching the pass from the north side, starting from Martina and following the picturesque road with its eleven hairpin bends. The road will take you directly to Lake Resia, where you can capture unforgettable photos against the backdrop of the church tower. Continuing your journey to Malles Venosta on the SS40, you can also consider continuing your adventure to other famous passes such as the Stelvio Pass or the Penne Pass. An exceptional driving experience awaits you in this fascinating region.
