The Col Muraglione, famous among motorcyclists, is distinguished by its stone wall erected in 1836 to protect against the winds of Mugello. This route crosses the Romagna Apennines, offering a shorter, more picturesque route linking Pisa to Ravenna over 245 km. Departure is from Forlì via the SS67, passing through Castrocaro Terme and Terra del Sole, famous for their thermal baths, and following the Montone river to Rocca San Casciano.
The route continues through lush landscapes to San Benedetto in Alpe, at the gateway to Tuscany's Casentino forests, with just 5 km of ascent before reaching the pass. Beware of speed cameras and the temptation to speed on this stretch of road, which is often compared to the Mugello circuit, and drive carefully to fully appreciate the beauty of the Apennines.
