Our motorcycle route between Garessio and the Ligurian Riviera was marked by an appreciation of the wide, flowing bends, and the striking contrast between the aromas of the mountains and those of the sea. Leaving Garessio for Ormea and Ponte di Nava, we enjoyed fast, flowing bends, framed by majestic peaks such as Monte Mongioie and Pizzo d'Ormeda. Ponte di Nava, a meeting point for enduro bikers and other outdoor enthusiasts, also stands out for its proximity to the Via del Sale. Before reaching Colle di Nava, the Fort Central is worth a detour, being the only publicly accessible fort in the region. Our descent to Imperia took us to Pieve di Teco, a village rich in history and local produce such as cheeses, wine and oil. Arriving in Imperia, we explored the historic fusion of Oneglia and Porto Maurizio, discovering the Cathedral-Basilica of San Maurizio, the largest church in Liguria, and the charming alleyways of Parasio.
Oneglia, with its 19th-century architecture, offers a picturesque stroll along Via Bonfante and Piazza Dante. A must-see is Villa Grock, an art deco architectural gem, now transformed into a clown museum, testifying to the region's cultural heritage.
